The Cicadas are here!

We are experiencing the Cicadas that come out every 17 years! Thankfully they don't bit or sting; however they are very loud during the day and they are everywhere!
(Zachariah was with Daddy running to the dump while we took this adventure around the yard)

Can you year the humming in the background? It gets so load during hot days that we can here it inside with the doors & windows shut!
(After I took this video, I explained to Olivia that I wasn't pretending to not know about the Cicadas, she was explaining it for all of you!)
Cicada Nymphs crawl out of the ground...
...climb on to trees and everything else...
...and shed their shells...

Olivia found an cute green caterpillar along the way...

A random cocoon along our adventure...

The males sing very loudly to attract the females...the females lay 400-600 eggs...when the nymphs hatch they burrow several inches under ground.
